Rack5

Rack5 started as a rack without shelves. The shelves were made by making cuts in the vertical sides and back panels of the rack and then origami-folded into horizontal shelves.

The result is a strikingly frivolous, open cupboard that - although made from full European oak - looks light and sculptural, and because of its playful form evokes references to the Carlton cupboard from Ettore Sottsass.

Rack5 is part of a serie of cabinets basically all based on the same back panel of 120 x 180 cm. Others are CabinetRack1, CabinetRack2, Vitrine and Rack6.
